Sales BDC Training Resource Center

What a trained sales BDC can do, the ways to get there, and how to make the training show up in your numbers.

Sales BDC training teaches the agents who handle a dealership’s phone and internet leads to respond, hold the conversation, set a firm appointment and follow up. This resource center covers it in three steps: what a trained BDC looks like and how to spot the missing skill, the ways to train and what each costs, and how to book training and make it stick.

Our BDC library already holds the material an agent trains on: the word tracks, the objection handling, the appointment and show-rate guides. What it did not have is the layer above that, for the manager who has to decide how the team gets trained, by whom, at what cost, and how anyone will know it worked. That is what these pages are for.

Where we stand: Pinnacle trains dealership BDC teams in the store through Sales BDC Training and runs a three-day Boot Camp. We sell training, so these pages try to say honestly when training is the right fix and when the problem is process, staffing or coverage instead. For that wider decision, see the Dealership BDC Guide.

STEP 01

Know what good looks like

Start here if you are not yet sure what your team is missing. These pages set out what a trained sales BDC agent can do, how to find the missing skill in your own numbers, how to score a call, and what practice and coaching look like when they are done properly.

STEP 02

Compare ways to train

Once you know the gap, there are several ways to close it: train the team yourself, bring a trainer into the store, send people to a class, or buy video. These pages compare the formats honestly, including what each costs in time off the phones and when training is the wrong fix.

Work out the return

The BDC training ROI calculator runs your leads through contact, set, show and sold rates twice, once with today's numbers and once with the rates you expect after training, and shows the added units, the added gross and how many months the training takes to pay back. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

STEP 03

Book it and make it stick

For the dealer who has decided to train and wants the money to show up in the numbers. What to ask a trainer, how to get the store ready, what the days themselves look like, and how to tell at 30, 60 and 90 days whether it worked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sales BDC training?

Sales BDC training teaches the people who answer a dealership's phones and internet leads to respond well, hold a useful conversation, set a firm appointment, confirm it and follow up. Good programs train on the store's own calls and CRM, with role-play and scored call reviews, not lecture alone. The sales BDC skills checklist.

How do I know whether my BDC needs training or something else?

Look at the chain per agent. A low set rate on leads the agent did reach usually points to a skill gap. Leads that never reach the CRM, phones nobody answers and too few agents are process or coverage problems, and training will not fix them. Reading your BDC numbers for skill gaps.

Is in-store training better than a class or video?

Each format does a different job. In-store training works on your team's real calls in your CRM. A class away from the store suits managers and a few key people. Video is cheap to repeat but cannot hear your calls. Most stores end up combining two of them. BDC training formats compared.

How much does BDC training cost?

Trainers price by the day on site, by the seat for classes, or by subscription for video and ongoing coaching, and the hours your agents spend off the phones are part of the cost too. Pinnacle does not publish a price for in-store training; it is quoted for the store. What BDC training costs and how to work out the return.

What does Pinnacle's Sales BDC Training include?

It covers inbound lead handling, outbound follow-up, appointment setting, word tracks, and CRM and workflow, customized to the store's brand and current numbers. Trainers work directly with the BDC staff through role-play and reviews of live calls and internet responses, followed by performance reviews, call audits and refreshers. Sales BDC Training.
